GOALS Football Tournament

Our Year 6 boys’ football team came second in the Farlingaye pyramid’s football tournament at the GOALS football centre, on Friday 27th March.

After winning all games in our pool (9:0, 9:3, 4:1, 4:1), Grundisburgh then played Rendlesham in the final. The two teams were well-matched and the game was close and very tense! Unfortunately, a couple of minutes before the end of the game, Rendlesham just managed to slip the ball past our fearless goalie, defeating us 1:0.

Our boys played brilliantly as a team. Ten teams competed in the tournament, and Grundisburgh should be very proud of their performance.

Girls’ Football Festival

On Friday 20th March, Grundisburgh took part in the first ever girls’ football festival for primary schools in the Farlingaye pyramid.

Having won one game and lost one, we came second in our pool. After two more very close games, we ended up in sixth place (out of nine teams).

A big thank you to Mrs Gill-Muttitt for giving lifts to and from Kyson, and for providing blankets and chocolate biscuits!

This was the first time most of our team had played competitive football. They all did really well and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Swap It & Fair Trade Cafe - Thursday 12th March

The Swap It and Fair-trade Cafe were held on Thursday 12th March and were very successful events.

The children took most of the responsibility for the event; running the Swap It and serving the cakes.

Thank you to everybody that kindly donated items to the Swap It and Cakes to be enjoyed too.

The Fair-trade Cafe raised just over one hundred pounds which was fantastic. The Fair-trade reps will deciding how they would like to spend the money.

Thank you to everyone who came or was involved.

Cross Country - Tuesday 10th March

16 children from Grundisburgh Primary School took part in the Cross Country event held at Hollesley Primary School on Tuesday 10th March.

The course is fairly difficult, starting on an uphill straight.
Our children did really well and overall the school came 7th out of 12. Special mentions for Tom Frohn who came 2nd in his race, Daniel Sheridan who came 6th in his and Rose Gill-Muttitt who came 8th in hers. Very well deserved.

What we were very impressed with was all of the children’s ability to help each other and look out for one another. Well done to all of the Cross Country runners.

Music Week
This was a whole school project where each class focused on a particular type of music from a particular part of the world. All of the children were involved in lots of music making and learning about music from a different culture. Links were made to Art, Writing, Geography, Dance and other areas of the curriculum.

Framlingham Castle with Year 1

Class 1 went on a very blustery trip to Framlingham Castle on Monday 2nd March. It was absolutely freezing and it even snowed but we had a fantastic time. It was great to see such an excellent castle in real life.

We saw where the portcullis would have been, the Great Hall and the Poorhouse. We also went on the Wall Walk around the battlements of the castle.

Multi Skills at Farlingaye with Year 1

On Friday 6th February Year 1 went to Farlingaye High School for a Multi-Skills event. We got to make new friends with children from different schools whilst having lots of fun!

Francesca and Jessica were in the winning team. Sophia and Asha won the Silver award and Elizabeth and Harriet the Bronze. All children got certificates for participating.

It was an absolute pleasure taking Year 1 as they were so impeccably behaved. Well done Year 1!
