Parent Yoga Session It was a lovely session and the children and parents got really involved and seemed to enjoy the event. The children also shared a yoga routine that they had been learning this term as well. Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the event. Rendlesham Trip Class 1 went on a fabulous trip to Rendlesham Forest on 28th November 2014. The weather held out and we all had a great but tiring day! We did lots of activities throughout the day; Meet the tree, identifying leaves, den building for Tubby Ted, looking at the world from the eye of a mini creature and a bit of fun on the slide too! Crib Fest We all went down to St Mary’s church in Grundisburgh to see Claire and the fantastic collection of cribs. There was a fascinating collection from around the world. There was even a loom band crib! As a school we also created sculptures depicting the crib scene based on the artist Pablo Picasso and our work was displayed alongside. Thank you to Charlotte and some of the Year 5 children who helped to create these. On Tuesday 18th November we launched the Golden Mile. The children can walk, jog or run across the year building up the miles that they have travelled. They can even count the miles they travel to school (if they walk!) ‘‘It gives you the chance to catch up with friends and it keeps you fit!’’ - Tom Frohn, Year 6 ‘‘Being a monitor means you are independent and you can take responsibility for something whilst encouraging others.’’ - Daniel Sheridan, Year 6 Box 2 B Fit We had an excellent day on Monday 17th November when John came back in to work with us on a 'Box 2 B Fit' session. This involved the children doing lots of fitness activities in a circuit. They all thoroughly enjoyed the activities and we will be using them in future PE lessons. We enjoyed a special assembly this week by our Year 5 children. They performed their gymnastic sequences and balances to music in front of other classes and parents. They kept to a set rhythm by moving between apparatus and balancing all to the music. Once again we were blessed with warm and dry Autumn weather for our fair. Each class organised and ran their own stall with an Autumn theme; FOGS ran a huge cake stall; we had slush puppies and of course we had our pumpkins displayed. A big thank you to FOGS, all of the parents and of course to the staff and children for making this such a lovely event. Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6 walked up to the chapel for our Harvest Festival celebration. Each class performed a poem or displayed their art work based around the theme of harvest. We sang songs and listened to Colin the pastor talk about the importance of harvest. Some of us were able to pick blackberries on the way back to school too! Tag Rugby Success Our magnificent rugby team won the silver award at this year’s rugby tournament at Woodbridge Rugby Club. They won five of their six matches and played with tremendous team spirit and with a strong sense of fair play. Our team have now been invited to take part in the next round – the partnership finals! Well done Grundisburgh! |
